\nHaving glimpsed the state of perfect peace,
\nShould be able, honest and upright,
\nGentle in speech, meek and not proud.<\/p>\n
\nNot over-busy, and simple in living.
\nTranquil his senses, let him be prudent,
\nAnd not brazen, nor fawning on families.<\/p>\n
\nThat gives the wise reason to reprove him.
\n(Then let him cultivate the thought:)
\nMay all be well and secure,
\nMay all beings be happy!<\/p>\n
\nWithout exception, weak or strong,
\nLong, huge or middle-sized,
\nOr short, minute or bulky,<\/p>\n
\nAnd those living far or near,
\nThe born and those seeking birth,
\nMay all beings be happy!<\/p>\n
\nHis fellow anywhere;
\nLet none wish others harm
\nIn resentment or in hate.<\/p>\n
\nA mother shields from hurt
\nHer own son, her only child,
\nLet all-embracing thoughts
\nFor all beings be yours.<\/p>\n
\nFor all throughout the universe,
\nIn all its height, depth and breadth —
\nLove that is untroubled
